Where It Falls. We Follow.
It’s been a busy one at Passenger HQ - heads buried in snow, tech fibres and hood designs dominating the aural waves. To break the ice, we put some Qs to snow devotees on what pulls them back to the mountains each year. As many put feet up after another year well roamed—positively slipper-ed—others have eyes fixed on weather windows, ski passes and après chasers.
When we say ‘others’, we mean a fair few of the Passenger crew. FOMO—SNOWMO?—kicks in as OOO replies flood the inbox. What’s so great about escapism in the snow? Well, now you mention it…
“My happy place. I love how serene snow is, how it absorbs the sound. It’s pure magic.”

How do you find meaningful escapism in the snow?
Matt, Community Coordinator: “The quietness of it, riding down a cruisey red, favourite tunes for someone who has a busy brain - just focusing on the ride, throwing in a few kickers for fun.”
Morgan, Passenger Ambassador: “I think it is important to remove yourself from that chaos and kind of come back to the center. There's nothing more peaceful than being out in the snow, far away from any other people, just with your dog, skis strapped on, touring up a mountain and listening to the sound of your own breath.”
Katie, Head of Design: “Before having a family it was always about first and last lift, spending time on the slopes with friends and drinking a few beers at the end of the day. Nowadays it's a whole different experience. It's the one place I can truly unwind, let go, be myself, and breathe.”
Jojo, Customer Service Coordinator (US): “If we get to plan a true escapism, we usually go to Crested Butte, Breckenridge, or Keystone to go skiing/snowboarding. I love being able to listen to music, making some turns through the trees, and sharing laughs with my friends on the chairlifts.”
What pulls you back to the mountains every winter?
Paul, Chief Product Officer: “Snow, Scenery, Mountains, riding and fondue.”
Laura, Customer Service Manager: “Having the best day with your pals where the sun is out, the snow is fresh, and everyone's excited; thinking about nothing other than what's under our feet and in front of our eyes. Sharing gratitude for our environment and being playful is really where the dopamine hits!”
Marco, Friend of Passenger: “Cabin fever. I can't stay inside. And honestly, the more time I spend outside the better. It's just where I've grown up. It's where I spend most of my time. I couldn't really see myself going to an office or anything like that. I guess the thing that brings me back every year is just the fact that I love it, and I really wouldn't know where I'd be without it.”
Your dream winter rig?
Laura, Customer Service Manager: “I'd love a pick-up. I've done vanlife out in the Alps during winter before and whilst it was a great experience, having a place to have friends round for a carb-heavy dinner by the fire after a great day is something I really love… I do have a vision of a cosy little hut in the mountains, collecting logs for the winter and boards/bikes in the back of the pick-up depending on the season.”
Jojo, Customer Service Coordinator (US): “Oh man, I would love a short skoolie that I can park in the ski parking lot so that my pup can chill while we hit some runs. Or we can take it to the National Forests and have some amazing camping experiences while still being warm.”
Morgan, Passenger Ambassador: “Probably like a sprinter van of some sort. We do a ton of snow camping and have a lot of days where we’re at the trailhead the night before so that we can do a solid 20 miles before the sun goes down. But I think it would be really cool to have some sort of a rig where we can stay nice and cozy, dry and even make a meal, make some coffee and stash the gear away with room to spare!”
Matt, Community Coordinator: “Ok so don't make fun of me… but one of the John Deere Gators (ATV), fully kitted out to take me and my buds from basecamp to the slopes and have some fun doing it.”
EDC - what’s in your pockets and pack on a day in the mountains?
Marco, Friend of Passenger: “Usually it's half a loaf of bread, cheese and a load of dried meat. Yes, it takes up a lot of space but most of my pack is snacks. I'm just a hungry guy. Oh and water. A lot of water.”
Matt, Community Coordinator: “Music (essential), good earphones, a small hip flask of jager (for the heating element ofc). But honestly, I’m pretty minimal, as long as my buds are there and one of us knows the way back to the lift - that's all I need.”
Katie, Head of Design: “You may be able to guess my age here but always Ibruprofen! Followed by a pack of tissues and some kind of muesli bar and Suncream.”
Post-session, boots by the door... are you reaching for a coffee, tea, beer or something stronger?
Paul, Chief Product Officer: “Water first, then maybe a Glühwein.”
Laura, Customer Service Manager: “Free-flowing rosé and a cheeky post-dinner Génépi!”
Morgan, Passenger Ambassador: “ Oh, man. There is nothing better than a cold beer after a long day of skiing and sweating… it’s mostly water, right? But I do usually slam a water and then go for the beer. And then if we’re not driving anywhere, so camping or walking to a cabin nearby, a nice whiskey on the rocks.”
Katie, Head of Design: “I love a beer at the end of the day, guess it's a tradition from back in the day and my first trip in my twenties… there's just something about a cold beer in the mountains.”
Down days, what’ve you got planned? If anything.
Katie, Head of Design: “My down days would be walking around town, finding a place to sit and have a coffee while people-watching, and checking out any inspirational outfits of course. I love seeing what people choose to wear in the mountains.”
Laura, Customer Service Manager: “Snowshoeing, walking dogs with friends, out to the lake if the sky is blue. If not, hunkering down with a good book inside.”
Morgan, Passenger Ambassador: “Drying my gear, laying on the couch with my dog. She has no quit. If I’m working back-to-back patrol days or doing big adventures, she will just go until she falls over. I’d say the rest days are for my dog Vesper… but they're really for me.”
Jojo, Customer Service Coordinator (US): “Putting on a fire, getting the friends together, making some food, and playing all the board games we have. And the loser usually has to run through the snow barefoot (we like to keep things exciting).”
